Disneyland's Main Street Cinema, an opening day attraction from 1955, recently began selling merchandise in addition to showing classic Disney cartoons. On the Disneyland website, it describes the attraction as "a nostalgic journey back to the beginning of Disney animation."

Now, at the entrance to the Cinema, there is a sign indicating that both "cartoons and collectibles" can be found at the attraction. Reports indicate that the merchandise to be found includes items that are available at other shopping locations in the park. There has been an outcry from fans that creating a gift shop here is not fitting with Walt Disney's vision for the attraction.
There is no mention of merchandise being available at Main Street Cinema on Disneyland's website at this time. Some speculate that this change could be temporary to accommodate crowds that new land, Galaxy's Edge (which opened at the end of last month), will bring in.
Shorts now playing at Main Street Cinema:
- Steamboat Willie, 1928
- Plane Crazy, 1928
- The Moose Hunt, 1931
- Traffic Troubles, 1931
- The Dognapper, 1934
- Mickey’s Polo Team, 1936
UPDATE: Since this post was originally published, Disneyland has removed merchandise at this location amid extensive backlash from guests.
